Baby Knowledge You Might Not Yet Have

Sure you know that most of a baby’s day involves sleeping eating and bowel relief. But do you know why babies move the way they do? Has someone taught you why a baby grows up in stages? Many adults do not take the time to learn exactly how their children mature. Other parents decide to learn everything they can about the way their child grows and develops as it gets older.

Babies are never dull! Think of what you know about babies and toss half of it out-you’ve been given a lot of bad information! Here are some things that you might be interested in knowing about babies and how they develop.

Did you already know that there are three hundred bones in an infant’s body? There are only two hundred and six bones in an adult’s body. While this might sound like your body absorbs your bones as you grow up, the reality is that some of your bones simply fuse together. It is the presence of these “extra” bones that makes people believe that a baby has more flexibility than an adult, because the bones have a wider range of motion. When you see how easily babies can move and compare it to your own physical limitations this might be a plausible theory for you.

Even while they are in utero, babies can identify music. By thirty four weeks of life the baby is able to recognize different songs. A baby can spend more than a month in utero listening to and appreciating different songs. Sometimes the babies will even “dance” to different beats. This means that your child is already showing his or her music preferences-while in the womb! Isn’t that great?

Babies are able to physically communicate before they can verbally communicate. Many parents use this as a basis for beginning the “baby signs” program with their kids. These parents teach their kids how to sign for things like food, drink, diaper changes, naps, etc and it makes it a lot easier for babies to communicate what they need. Many studies have proven that kids who were taught how to communicate through physical communication programs like sign language grow up to have better communication skills than those who were simply taught verbal communication in their early years.

You will be astounded by all of the things that you can learn about babies. Everybody knows that babies grow up at an alarming rate. Do you know exactly how development occurs? Do you know all of the stages between birth and adulthood? Childhood development is a fascinating subject-just look at what you have already learned!
